Here are six of the best games you should own before Christmas.
IT has already been a huge year for video gaming, but the best has been saved for last.
As the year draws to a close, some of the biggest titles are making there way onto our shelves.
Here are six of the best games you should own before Christmas.
ASSASSIN’S CREED: SYNDICATE
AFTER its immediate predecessor failed to impress, Ubisoft made sure the latest release in the Assassin’s Creed franchise hit the mark.
Set in 1860s, the story revolves around a brother and sister duo as they attempt to overthrow the establishment that rules London
For the most part, players have the option to control either Evie or Jacob Frye — depending on the gaming experience they want.
Choosing Evie will offer the familiar experience of stealthily sneaking through the game, silently taking down enemies.
Jacob, on the other hand, will allow for a more forward approach with the character designed for brawling.
While you are easily able to swap between the two characters, each also has their own side missions to complete.
The gameplay offers a similar experience to the previous games from the franchise, although it appears there has been great liberties taken to remove the bugs and glitches seen in Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
Verdict: If you are have played and loved the earlier Assassin’s Creed games you will definitely enjoy the latest addition. It could also be for you if you are new to the franchise and are looking for an open world adventure.
Available on Xbox One and PS4 now.
Yo, I am gonna blast this fool.
HALO 5: GUARDIANS
The fifth game in the Halo franchise is the first game in the series to be given the next-gen treatment.
Halo 5 begins eight months after its predecessor and protagonist Master Chief has gone missing after attempting to chase down a call from his ally.
With Master Chief AWOL, Spartan Locke and the Osiris Team after sent to find him.
This storyline allows you to play as both Spartan commanders, while being accompanied by three AI companions.
As with the previous games in the franchise, Halo 5 offers a flawless game design complete with hi-tech cinematic cut scenes.
Packed with a few new weapons and a new vehicle, the game offers never-before-seen action.
In addition to a strong campaign mode, the game comes with two multiplayer formats for online gameplay.
There is the Arena multiplayer, which stays true to the franchise and offers a skill-based 4-vs-4 competitive combat.
However, for those that like a little more mayhem, there is the new Warzone multiplayer, which is a massive-scale mode supporting battles with up to 24-players.
Verdict: If you are after an impressive cinematic campaign mode or engaging multiplayer, this could be the game for you. Offering non-stop action from start to end, this is really one for fans of first-person shooters. But if you are not a sci-fiction fan, it might be a little hard to get into.

New look guitar designed purely for shredding.GUITAR HERO LIVE
The first thing you notice when you unpack Guitar Hero Live is a change to the controller.
Gone are the days of the five-button control scheme seen with its predecessors, this a brand new era of Guitar Hero.
The previous controls have been replaced with a new six-button setup that splits the fret into two rows, which has been introduced to add a whole new test of skills.
Career mode puts players in the perspective of a guitarist playing in a number of different bands as they shred three-song sets at two fictional music festivals.
While career offers a fun experience and allows you to unlock all of the songs for quickplay mode, the real hero of the game is the online component.
Online is separated into two channels, which live stream scheduled playlists of non-stop music throughout the entire day.
This mode moves away from the fictional band experience of career and allows players to jam over the original clip of the song making it feel like an interactive episode of Rage.
The better you shred, the more you points you earn to unlock bonus material, such as the ability to purchase single on-demand plays of any track.
Verdict: If you have been down with the older guitar hero games, you are going to love this. It’s more diverse, more challenging and more rewarding than ever. If you’re new to the concept, but are looking for a social gaming experience or just love music, this comes highly recommended.

While campaign mode has been designed to impress, the multiplayer format is the real drawcard of this game.
Unlike its predecessors, Black OPs III has been given a new momentum-based chained-movement system, which allows players to thrust, jump and wall run, all while maintaining complete control of weapons.
To coincide with the new movement system, all of the maps have been built from the ground up to offer an optimised gaming experience.
If this game wasn’t already promising enough, Black OPs III has included the most immersive Zombies mode ever seen.

FALLOUT 4
As the sole survivor of Vault 111, you enter a world destroyed by nuclear war. Only you can rebuild and determine the fate of the wasteland. Welcome home.
This is the premise behind the fifth major instalment in the Fallout series, which promises to offer an unprecedented action role-playing experience.
Set in Boston, exactly 200 years after the nuclear holocaust of 2077, the game gives the player the opportunity to explore the wasteland with their canine sidekick.
In the lead up to the release, creator Bethesda claimed to have developed one of the biggest open world role-playing games ever seen.
Complete with the most advanced crafting system ever, gamers can collect, upgrade and build literally thousands of items — all while fighting off enemy attacks.
Fallout 4 is being billed as a real time investment with one of the developers claiming to have sunk an astounding 400 hours into the game and this is without achieving everything possible.
Aside from expansive gameplay, the developers have been meticulous with detail when designing the game.
From dynamic lighting to materials react to things like rainstorms and wind, Fallout 4 attempts to offer the most authentic experience possible.
The real winner is the player crafting system, which allows you to design the look of the protagonist and his wife.
Once complete, the game takes this design and creates a baby based on the appearance of the mother and father players select.
Verdict: An open world role-playing game offering literally hundreds of hours of gameplay can’t be a bad thing. If you’re chasing bang for your buck, you can’t go past Fallout 4.

May the force be with you.
STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT
The third major release in the Star Wars: Battlefront series is the most immersive and authentic Star Wars game ever.

Able to be switched between first-person and third-person views, the game will give the opportunity to wage battles on Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and the previously unexplored planet, Sullust.
These planets can be traversed using a variety of land and air-based vehicles including Pilot X-wings, TIE fighters and the Millennium Falcon.
Unfortunately, battles are restricted to planets, meaning players won’t be able to fight in deep space.
The game lets players choose to control either a Rebel Alliance soldier or an Imperial Stormtrooper with each character’s gear, weapons and abilities fully customisable.
Additionally, players can choose if they want to be a hero or villain with the game offering the opportunity to control fan favourites from the films, such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, Leia Organa, Han Solo.
