Heartbroken Patti Stevens kills herself two weeks after her husband of 25 years is murdered

Heartbroken Patti Stevens kills herself two weeks after her husband of 25 years is murdered
WHEN her husband of 25 years Dave Stevens was murdered in a brutal and random attack as he jogged, his devastated wife Patti said he was ‘the love of her life and I’m lost without him’.

Two weeks after Dave Stevens was hacked to death with a machete, 54-year-old Patti committed suicide in their home in the town of Sunnyvale in Dallas County,Texas, on Sunday, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department told The Dallas Morning News.
Patti Stevens had said a week after her husband was killed that she had trouble sleeping, eating and even thinking clearly.
She told Fox4 in a statement after the murder: “This is a horrible, senseless tragedy and we are devastated with the loss of such a wonderful man. It has created a huge hole in our hearts.”
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said that 21-year-old Thomas Linze Johnson, a mentally ill former Texas A & M football player, randomly picked out Stevens and hacked him to death with a machete around 8am on October 12 as he went on his normal morning jog.
Johnson allegedly called emergency services on a passer-by’s mobile phone and confessed: “I just committed capital murder”.
He is being held in Dallas County jail, with bail set at $500,000.
Sheriff’s officers initially had trouble identifying Stevens and his wife Patti later said she spent more than a day trying to understand what had happened to her husband.
“People need to know that this was a wonderful person going out and doing what he loved to do,” she told The Dallas Morning News.
Patti and Dave Stevens met on their graduation ceremony at Michigan State University and moved to Dallas together in 1989.
Her body was found in the garage of the home after sheriff’s officer were alerted by concerned former workmates of her husband.
