How the Hart sisters are bringing awareness to Bright Pink Lipstick Day
THESE girls have a Hart of gold.
Jumping on board as ambassadors for Bright Pink Lipstick Day 2015, model sisters Ashley and Jessica Hart are thrilled to be involved with Pink Hope — together.
“Family is one of the most important things to me, and I love that Pink Hope is a family-oriented charity that’s spreading this message of prevention,” Jess said.
The blonde beauties, who are known for their international modelling status, hope their association with the day will generate further awareness of breast and ovarian cancer. Breast cancer being Australia’s 3rd most common cancer.
“Prevention and early detection are key. So have a conversation with your loved ones about your family history and risk. The more information you have means you can better understand your individual risk and take action.”
“Hereditary cancer often occurs at a younger age than sporadic cancer, so screening and early detection are crucial. Supporting strong and empowered women on a mission is something I wanted to a part of,” she said.

The sisters, who were recently featured as part of a 60 minutes sit-down with Karl Stefanovic, opened up about their difficult childhood and lack of a father figure. In the interview they spoke of how their mother stayed in a ‘rocky marriage’ to have a second child to ‘keep Jess company.’
“She [Hart’s mother] waited until she was pregnant [with Ashley] until she left my father,” Jessica said in the interview.
Today, the beauties are grateful for being able to combine their passion for the charity and love for each other to support such a worthy cause.
“We live such different and busy lives, so working together means we get to spend time together. Bringing my sister on-board to support Pink Hope and LUMA makes this a real passion project.”
Jess’s beauty brand LUMA got on board with Pink Hope in 2014, where she created a pink lipstick for the charity. Her advice for women worried about pulling off a pink lip?
“Our bright pink lipstick is very feminine, but graphic and modern at the same time. Adjust the shade based on your skin tone and layer it with a sheer stain over the top.”
Bright Pink Lipstick Day encourages women to get out and talk about their family health history. For more information, or to see how you can get involved with Pink Hope, head to their website
