Surf and turf for Bondi favourite

Surf and turf for Bondi favourite
THERE will be a bit of surf with turf at the races this spring carnival with The Bucket List announcing it is setting up a marquee at Royal Randwick.
It will be a first for the Bondi Beach venue, which is hosting a beach club-themed marquee on the Leger Lawn over the five major race days, starting with The Star Epsom Day on Saturday, October 3 and finishing on the Melbourne Cup Race Day Meeting on November 3.

Lifeguard stations, sand and Kombi vans will feature at the marquee which will be serving springtime cocktails and seafood alongside surfboards.
“We just want to make it accessible to everyone, that is why we are in general admission area not in the members, “ says Bucket List co-owner Andy Ruwald. “They want to get value for money and have a great experience.”
Dishes from chef TomWalton (ex Bistro Moncur, (pictured) will include Queensland prawn and truffle rolls with celery and herbs, fish and chips, jerk chicken and burgers and will be no more than $10.
“For us it’s a good marketing exercise and we want people to experience The Bucket List who have not experienced it before.”
The Bondi Beach venue meanwhile has had a refresh, in readiness for the summer flood of customers, with a new spring menu, new floors and new outdoor furniture by Robert Plum designer Will Dangar.
“It’s not cheap but it lasts,” says Ruwald. Palm Beach favourite Cranky Fins is also about to reopen after its winter hiatus and Ruwald is also focusing his efforts on a new venue in Bali, near Canggu, the coastal tourist hub north west of Seminyak.
