CAMERON Smith has issued an impassioned rallying call to Victorians, inviting AFL fans to unite behind Melbourne Storm’s bid for an NRL grand final berth.
With no AFL game in Melbourne this weekend, Storm will have the city all to itself when it clashes with North Queensland in the preliminary final at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
“I just see it as a great opportunity for our game to do something special this weekend to showcase our sport,” skipper Smith said.
“It is a huge match and we’re the only NRL team in this state and we need a big crowd.
“This town loves footy and it doesn’t matter which code it is, so I’d like to think we can sell this place out and try and make it an intimidating atmosphere.”
Storm members have already snapped up more than 10,000 tickets in one day.
Tickets go on sale to the public at 10am Tuesday.
